SmartyCam is a versatile product which can be used in different modes according to your needs and racing experience.
It can be used without any additional unit by amateurs or newbies to record videos with basic data overlayed.
Adding an ECU Bridge (second mode), it is then possible to visualize data provided by the Engine Control Unit (ECU).
If you already have got an
AIM datalogger (third mode), SmartyCam is even easier to use!
In fact the camera can be connected via CAN to EVO3, EVO4, MXL Strada/Pista/Pro05, MyChron4 and is able to record videos with an ample range of technical data overlayed, meeting the needs of professional racers who wish to evaluate and improve their performance. |

Summing up: |

If you need to visualize data coming from your ECU (Engine Control Unit), the interface module ECU Bridge
is to be added to the camera.
This way you will be able to overlay on videos – in addition to all the basic data shown above - also the following data:
RPM |
Engaged gear |
Water temperature |
... and depending on your ECU type, even more parameters, i.e.: |
More speeds |
More temperatures |
Lambda value |
Pressures |
Vehicles not supplied with ECU (i.e. classic cars, Nascar cars etc.) can visualize RPM through the expressly designed RPM Bridge. |
Connecting SmartyCam to your AIM datalogger ( EVO, MXL, MyChron4) it is then possible to record and overlay all data coming from the ECU: |
RPM |
Engaged gear |
More speeds |
More temperatures |
Lambda value
(via LCU-ONE) |
Pressures |
... and many more, depending on ECU type. |
In this mode data are not just overlayed on videos, but recorded by the logger for desk analysis with software Race Studio 2. |

When ordering SmartyCam it is also required to choose the desired lens and cable length: |
Two lens types can be chosen: with 67° Horizontal field of view (HFOV) or a wider one, with 84°(HFOV).
The 84° lens is recommended for kart, bike, formula car and open roof car in general. The 67° lens the best choice for closed roof cars (i.e. touring cars).
Important!
A periodical check of the external lens conditions is recommended.
In case of external use, in fact, physical agents may damage the lens, significantly reducing video quality. |
When ordering, it i salso required to choose the following cables length:
1. Power cable (in case SmartyCam is used without ECU Bridge or an AIM datalogger)
2. CAN cable (for ECU Bridge or datalogger connection)
3. External GPS cable |
When an external microphone is needed, it is possible to include in the order - instead of the above power cable and/or CAN cable:
4. Power cable with jack for external microphone
5. Power cable with external microphone
6. CAN cable with jack for external microphone
7. CAN cable with external microphone
In all cases, cables can be 2 or 4 meters long: 2 meters cables are generally recommended for karts and motorbikes, 4 meters for cars.
